Modoo Class
Modoo Class is an online fitness platform bringing people together to make a fit and healthy lifestyle. From yoga, HIT, barre to K-pop dance classes, Modoo Class offers a variety of workout classes that are designed by fitness influencers and certified coaches.
After shipping the first version of app, we started getting a lot of user feedback about a class which is the heartbeat of the user experience in the app. A team had to quickly investigate and get to the root of the problem.
Workout in a mobile app was a disjointed experience for some users. Controlling video on the phone is hard and users are often confused about which stage of class they are in, we needed to improve the class processing experience more an intuitive way.
I’ve created user personas based on the existing user type: age 24 to 34 female, student and professional.
Each persona’s goals, frustrations, motivations, behaviours, and personality are documented to better understand the users.
I worked with another designer to come together on the research findings. We generated lots of ideas and then refined the ideas with the most potential into higher fidelity explorations and prototypes.
The concepts and low-fidelity designs were then refined and iterated upon, gradually evolving into high-fidelity designs.
Class Overview
We updated the overall structure of the class page.
- The tab is replaced with icon buttons, a modal sheet opens from the bottom of the screen to allow users easily navigate contents so users can easily navigate between contents.
- The CTA button ‘Mission complete’ is in the fixed area on the bottom, it’s visible all the time and users are able to tap the button whenever they need
- Adjusted fon size to enhance legibility
Programm
We added video thumbnails to give users a more clear overview of each program. Once users complete a program, a complete message with a thick icon will appear below the title.
Although the task was limited to little changes to the product structure at the architecture level, we have successfully realised the new version after internal QA testing. Overall weekly retention is increased about 2 times, users are more active in class than in the previous version.
